Why the Sabbath in the New Testament?

17 New Testament Verses Proving the Validity of the Sabbath for Believers:

1. Luke 4:16 It was practiced by Jesus himself--
"So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as
His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read."

2. Luke 23:56 Followed by His disciples--
"Then they returned and prepared spices and fragrant oils. And they rested on the Sabbath according to the commandment."

3. Hebrews 4:9-11 Enjoin to be kept for God's people after Jesus' death and resurrection--
"So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God, for whoever has entered God's rest has also rested from his works as God did from his. Let us therefore strive to enter that rest, so that no one may fall by the same sort of disobedience."

4. Acts 17: 2 Observed by Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles--
"Then Paul, as his custom was, went in to them, and for three Sabbaths reasoned with them from the Scriptures."

5. Acts 18:4 Both Jews and Gentiles went to the synagogue on the Sabbath--
"And he reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath, and persuaded both Jews and Greeks."

6. 1 John 3:4 To disobey any of God's law is sin--
"Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness."

7. 1 John 2:4-6 Keeping the Sabbath is to show God's love for His truth--
He who says, "I know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.

8. 1 John 5:3 The Sabbath is God's expression of love to man--
"For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome."

9. 2 John 1:6 Keeping the commandments, including the Sabbath is God's will from the beginning--
"This is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, that as you have heard from the beginning, you should walk in it."

10. 1 Corinthians 11:1 To imitate Christ is to follow His every words--
"Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ."

11. Revelation 12:17 Keeping the commandments (incl. the Sabbath) are God's proof/seal of His people to the very end--
"And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ."

12. Revelation 14:12
"Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus."

13. Revelation 22:14 "Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city."
