Significance of Feast of Trumpets

The Feast of Trumpets is a time of remembrance a "memorial" of blowing of the shofar. Shofar or ram's horn is a symbolic instrument that helps us remember and call to mind the covenant we made with God. All believers look forward to the time when God will truly bring his Kingdom to the earth --an event this day proclaims.

"There will be the shout of command, the archangel's voice, the sound of God's trumpet, and the Lord himself will come down from heaven. Those who have died believing in Christ will rise to life first; then we who are living at that time will be gathered up along with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air" (1Thessalonians 4:16 - 17).

This culminates to the time when Christ sets foot again on Mount of Olives:

"At that time he will stand on the Mount of Olives, to the east of Jerusalem . . . Then the Lord will be king over all the earth . . ." (Zechariah 14:4, 9).
