Loving God with All Your Mind (Series 2 of 4)

Mark 12:30 “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your MIND and with all your strength.”

The greatest commandment in the Law includes loving the Lord your God with "all your mind" (see: Matt. 22:37; Mark 12:30; Luke 10:27). To Love God with your mind includes pursuing knowledge and wisdom: "An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge" (Proverbs 18:15).

The renewed mind plays a vital role in seeking and loving our God and Jesus Christ. The Lord Jesus said that if we are ever going to understand the Kingdom, our minds need to be constantly renewed (Matt. 4:17). And for our mind to be renewed it takes regular refreshing from God's word, very attentive to His every word. There are no short cuts. In Romans 12:2, Paul reiterates that a major part of being transformed into the image and likeness of Christ requires our minds being renewed. It’s that important.

To love God with all "our mind" is one of the four greatest possibilities (heart, soul, mind, and strength). Though the mind is never meant to rule the heart, it can be used to worship God and seek His will through the seeking and appreciation of all truth!

If you struggle with making time to study and dig into the depth of God's Word, look at it from the perspective that your seeking is about knowing God intimately—and loving Him with "all your mind"—and therefore keeping the intent of greatest commandment.
